Products description

With comic page:
Mecki - Wir spuken heute (Reinhold Escher).

Hörzu! has been published since 1946, making it the first German TV program guide after 1945. Its history is closely linked to that of the Axel Springer publishing house, which published Hörzu until 2013. With issue 43/1949, Hör Zu! had an editorial mascot: Mecki the hedgehog. Based on promotional material for the animated film Der Wettlauf zwischen dem Hasen und dem Igel (1939), Mecki was supposed to comment on editorial topics and "grumble" about possible grievances in radio. Since he quickly became popular with readers, a comic strip featuring Mecki and his friends, Charly Pinguin and the Schrat, appeared at first irregularly, then weekly, starting in the fall of 1951. Mecki became Hörzu's trademark and central advertising medium.
