The idea for this Statue of Liberty goes back to the French lawyer and politician Edouard Le Duc. In 1865, he said: "If a monument were to be erected in the United States to commemorate their independence, I think it would only be natural if it were created by united forces - a joint work of our two nations". As the planning progresses, he confuses the addresses. Instead of the American and French artists, he writes to the Anatids. And the appearance of the Statue of Liberty changes a lot.
